Building Trades Board
The Building Trades Board members represent the following trades: one Architect or Engineer (licensed within the State of Kansas), two Class "A" Building Contractors, two certified Master Plumbers, two certified Master Electricians, two certified Mechanical Appliance Installers, and two lay persons.

Community Corrections Board
The Community Corrections Board is a State mandated program (K.S.A. 75-4317 thru 75-4320) which was established in the fall of 1989 by the Kansas State Board of Corrections.

Emporia Enterprises
Emporia Enterprises is partnered with the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas, for land acquisition to help develop industrial parks with green field sites for light industrial manufacturing and warehouse/distribution development projects.

The Commission is to investigate alleged unfair or discriminatory practices among diverse groups of our citizens in regard to discrimination, segregation and separation based on the race, religion, color, sex, age, physical handicap, national origin, or ancestry of individuals in the securing or holding of employment, public accommodations and housing.

Emporia-Lyon County Convention & Tourism Committee
As an advisory board, duties are to make recommendations concerning expenditures for promotion of conventions and tourism.

Emporia-Lyon County Joint Board of Zoning Appeals
It is the primary function of this board to hear and decide appeals where a variance or special use permit may be allowed.

Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission
As a primary function, the Commission has the responsibility for the preparation, adoption, and recommendation of a long-range Comprehensive Plan to guide the future physical development of the Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area, and hears all applications for zoning changes.

MUPP's mission is to support the City Administration and staff in planning and integrating a path/trails system within Emporia to provide citizens of all ages safe routes to schools, work, shopping, and recreation, while promoting physical activity and preservation of the environment.
