Cooling Centers Announced Amid Heat Advisory

Raise Your Paws lobby (312 Commercial Street)
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
"Friendly, leashed dogs welcome."
Water bottles and water and treats for dogs available.

 Additional cooling centers:

Bloom House Youth Services, located at 301 West 11th Avenue, a Basic Center Program that serves TEENS and their families, can serve as a cooling center for teens and their families in this area. Please note: must have a teen present to qualify for shelter at Bloom House Youth Services.

Following the heat advisories from the National Weather Service, the City of Emporia and Lyon County are releasing cooling center locations for those in need of shelter during severe temperatures:

Emporia Police Department: 
Lobby open to those in need of shelter from severe temperatures.
Pets welcome if controlled by the owner.

Lyon County Sheriff Office:
Lobby open to those in need of shelter from severe temperatures.
Pets welcome if controlled by the owner.

The city would like to encourage the community to add to the list if they are offering a cooling center. For more information, please contact City of Emporia, Communications Manager ctorrens@emporiaks.gov.
