Warming Center Available in Emporia and Lyon County
Emporia, Kansas December 20— Following the winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service, the City of Emporia and Lyon County are releasing winter weather warming center locations for those in need of shelter during the severe cold temperatures:
Emporia Police Department:
Lobby open to those in need of shelter from severe cold temperatures.
Pets welcome if controlled by the owner.
Lyon County Sheriff Office:
Lobby open to those in need of shelter from severe cold temperatures.
Pets welcome if controlled by the owner.
First United Methodist Church (823 Merchant St):
Thursday, December 22, 202, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Friday, December 23, 2022, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Pets are not allowed.
First Congregational Church (326 W 12th Ave.)
Thursday, December 22, 202, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Friday, December 23, 2022, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Pets welcome if controlled by owner.
The city would like to encourage the community to add to the list if they are offering a warming center as well.
