On 10/31/2022 at 1254 PM, Officers of the Emporia Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of State St for a report of an injury accident. Two vehicles were involved in the accident. One was a red 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Robin Butts, male, 65 years of age. The other vehicle was a gray 2013 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Raul Diaz, male, 48 years of age. Butts was driving his Ford Explorer south bound on State St. in the 400 block, when he went left of center and struck the Chevrolet Camaro. Diaz was driving north bound on State when he was struck by Butts. Butts refused treatment on scene. Diaz was transported to Newman Hospital, by the Emporia / Lyon County Ambulance service, with unknown injuries.
