On November 30, 2022 at approximately 7:40 AM an officer with the Emporia Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop, for a traffic violation, at 11th and Cottonwood St. The vehicle was a red 2005 Ford Focus. The vehicle fled from the officer. After a short car chase, the vehicle stopped in the 100 block of E. 11th. The driver fled on foot, but the car started to roll and collided with a parked car on Mechanic St. The driver was apprehended a short time later in the 1000 block of Exchange St. The driver was identified as Jon A. Buchanan III, 41 years of age. He was confined at the Lyon County Jail on charges of flee and elude, interference of a law enforcement officer and other traffic offenses.
