Emporia Fire Department was dispatched to 1001 Mary St. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found light smoke coming from the front door of the structure. Crews found a smoldering fire on the balcony at the rear of the building.
The fire spread to the basement apartment of the building. Crews were able to search and extinguish with minimal damage to the apartment.
The fire is currently still under investigation.
The property owners of the apartments are Bluestem of Emporia LLC.
