Reported Possible Structure Fire-1839 Merchant St.

Emporia, Kansas 01/08/2022— Emporia Fire Department was dispatched to1839 Merchant St. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found no signs of smoke or fire coming from the building. They went into the apartment with the reported problem and found a light haze and a hot electrical smell.
The cause was determined to be an electrical problem with the circuit board of the HVAC air handling system.
The property owners are Villas At Emporia LLC .
