Structure Fire at 930 Graphic Arts Road

Emporia, Kansas (1-16-2023) — Emporia Fire Department was dispatched to 930 Graphic Arts Road, lot 52, for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, fire units found a trailer house fully engulfed in flames. Fire had spread to the siding of the neighboring trailer houses on either side. Minor damage to the siding of both exposed trailer houses. Lot 52 was a complete loss. Kansas Gas found a gas leak coming from the ground near the fire trailer house. Residents were evacuated on the North and South side of the fire scene. Kansas Gas was able to stop the leak and fire units were able to complete extinguishing the fire.
The fire was contained by using multiple hose lines.
The cause is currently under investigation.
The property owner is Maria Cortex Perez.
