On 04-27-2023 at 5:42 PM Lyon County Emergency Communications Center received multiple reports of shots fired toward a vehicle near East 9th Avenue and Whittier St. Upon arrival, officers of the Emporia Police Department located evidence of shots being fired. They located the vehicle believed to have been shot at and the victim who were unharmed. The victim, Samuel Gardenhire, male 67 years of age, was shot at by Michael Bradley, male 48 years old. Gardenhire was not hit by the gunfire and was unharmed. Bradley fled the area on foot but was located a short distance away and arrested. A firearm was located in the area a short time later. Bradley was arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder, Criminal Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Formal charges are pending through the Lyon County Attorney’s Office. Bradley is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
